Fun Living History Program for Museums/Schools/Community & Private Events to help Celebrate the Holidays
CHE Nautical & Enviro Edutainment Production provides culturally rich family fun through educational and cultural living history programs. Our re-enactors serve historic institutions, museums and other recreation providers with programming that enhances their holiday events. Our programs offer fun alternatives where science base learning, nature appreciation and history are explored through cast members and demonstrations.
We offer several programs for several major cultural holidays celebrated during the school year and more:
September: Harvest Fest
"Newtown Pippins" Colonial Orchard farmers celebrate NY Apple Harvest. Parents and children can engage in making their own apple cider with our traditional apple press.
"Owlween" with Capt Hawkeye & the Owl of G'Houle. Capt Hawkeye offers an exciting presentation and close encounters with live owls, where participants use the new knowledge to produce imaginative and interpretive owl masks. This workshop is conducted by Capt Hawkeye and his scurvy pirate crew.
"Giving Thanks" at the colonial encampment, with the stories of a Colonial Woodsman/Trapper/Fur Trader and his birds of prey. Settlers provides a fresh and historical perspective on the social, cultural environmental history in colonial America during Thanksgiving, with a exploration of the natural resources of our region. Learn how the earliest settlers used, reused and recycled the natural resources of our region. Program closes with a fantastic birds of prey education and demonstration with hands-on investigation, inquiry, and discovery activity.
February: Black History Month
Black Jacks a nautical journey that takes the audience back in time to meet and learn about some early American seafarers. The program offers a marine wildlife close encounter, education program and a film screening.
April: Earth Day
Ceremonial Launch of the Giant Floating Earth Ball
May: Memorial Day Weekend
"Upon the Wakes of the Iron Clad" with Civil War Naval Soldier
June: Juneteenth ( Coming Soon)
July: 4th of July/ July 5th (1824) Independence Day
"Rockets' Red Glare" with a ceremonial fireworks, flintlock muskets, pistols and naval cannon. An eclectic group of cast members will also take you through a broad look at history through the use of weapons.
August: On Water History Adventure
Heritage Ecocruise - Experience wonder on water aboard a 32ft long Indian shipping canoe. Our colonial fur traders will help 18 paddlers discover a new world through a variety of characters, while taking part in a highly realistic adventure.
Each of our living history programs is enacted by crew of dynamic cast members, comes complete with:
* accurate high quality period accoutrement,
* a crew of male and female cast members,
* wildlife demonstrations,
* hands-on activities for children armory demonstrations and tools and artifacts on display.
